About Me

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT MY NEW ONLINE SHOP

I am a self-taught, visual artist with disabilities.

In my art work I strive to capture the vivid memories of my childhood, sometimes adding strange surrealism to my child-like art works.

All of my paintings are original and, I hope, bring joy and humour, sometimes sadness, to all people of all ages.

I prefer to use acrylic paints but experiment with other media, prefering to express my work with recycled items. Cling film and dressmakers webbing are used in one of my latest works!

Born in Colchester , UK in 1953 I have now settled in Plymouth, Devon.

As a child, in 1963/64. I won 2 County Awards in The Brooke Bond Arts Competition. I gained 1st place in the first year then 3rd the following year.

Since then , I have moved homes many times, finally settling down roots in the beautiful Westcountry. Once in a while during these years I would sketch and paint cartoons.

In the early 1990s, I unknowingly fractured my spine during a parachute jump. Over the years since then my health has worsened and in 2007 retired from the working circuit and began to paint full time.

I run an art group on FaceBook for Plymouth and Devon artists as I am passionate about promoting the wonderful talent we have on our doorstep.
If you would like to join my group please type in the FaceBook search bar ' Plymouth & Devon Artists & Fans of Sandy Wager '. You will find a wealth of information for all artsts and fans of art in this group.

I have recently won the following 2 awards:

The Technicolour Abstract Art Award for
FRUITY TUNES
The Colour, DEEP, DARK, RICH Award for
THE BRIGHT LIGHTS

I am inspired by the following artists: (Click on the artist's name to see their websites)
